Prof. WALTER ARNOLD Walter Arnold obtained a diploma in physics in 1970 and a PhD in Solid State Physics in 1974, both from the Technical University Munich, Germany. He then held various positions as a researcher in Solid State and Applied Physics in academia and industry in the Max-Planck-Institute for Solid State Research, Stuttgart, Germany, in the Low-temperature Laboratory of the CNRS Grenoble, France; at IBM, Yorktown Heights, USA, and at the Brown-Boveri (now ABB) Research Laboratory, Baden, Switzerland. From 1980 until retirement at the end of 2007 he was employed at the Fraunhofer Institute for Non-Destructive Testing, Saarbrücken, Germany, as a researcher and eventually as a department head, developing and applying methods for non-destructive materials characterization. In the department W. Arnold headed, the experiment CASSE for the Rosetta mission was co-developed. In addition, W. Arnold was appointed professor of materials technology in 1989 at the Saarland University. From 2009 onwards he is a guest professor at the “I. Physikalische Institut”, Universität Göttingen, Germany, and in addition works as a self-employed consultant. WA guided 33 PhD students and about 160 Master and Bachelor students in their theses. WA authored a recent book on “Nondestructive Materials Characterization and Evaluation” together with K. Goebbels and A. Kumar, Springer Heidelberg, 2023. Dr. CHRISTOPHE REBOUD Christophe Reboud obtained his Engineering degree at Ecole Centrale de Nantes in 2003 and a PhD at University Paris Sud XI in 2006. He then joined CEA LIST as a permanent researcher in charge of electromagnetic modelling for Non Destructive Testing (NDT) applications. He specialized in semi-analytical methods for efficient simulation of eddy current testing problems, as well as metamodelling and statistical studies for reliability assessment. From 2012 to 2023, he was in charge of the Electromagnetic modelling laboratory at the NDT department of CEA LIST. This laboratory develops simulation tools related to quasi-static Electromagnetics, Thermography modelling, X-ray modelling and computed tomography, statistical studies, metamodelling and model based inversion for NDT applications. Since 2023, he is in charge of the Simulation and Artificial Intelligence Service, which develops in particular the CIVA software, an internationally recognized simulation and analysis platform dedicated to NDT applications. Christophe Reboud is a senior expert of CEA in the fields of NDT techniques, electromagnetics and modelling. He is member of the French NDT Confederation (COFREND) and is currently chairing the International Scientific Committee of the International Workshop on Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation (ENDE).
Prof. KRISHNAN BALASUBRAMAINIAM Prof. Krishnan Balasubramaniam has been involved in the field of Non-destructive evaluation for more than Twenty Five years with applications in the fields of maintenance, quality assurance, manufacturing and design. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and also serves as the Head of the Centre for Non- Destructive Evaluation. He received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Madras (Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli, India) in 1984. He then graduated from Drexel University, Philadelphia, from the department of Mechanical Engineering with a M.S. degree in 1986 and a Ph. D. in the year 1989. Before joining IIT in 2000, he was employed as an Associate Professor with the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics at Mississippi State University.
Dr. KOMAL KAPOOR Dr. Komal Kapoor is an Outstanding Scientist & Chief Executive of Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC) and the Chairman of NFC Board. Dr. Kapoor is a Metallurgical Engineer from the 33 rd batch of BARC Training School, Mumbai. Subsequently, he was posted to NFC and served in various capacities for more than three decades. He has obtained Doctorate degree in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai. Dr. Kapoor is an Adjunct Professor in Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai and the Guest Faculty at the University of Hyderabad (UoH). Dr. Kapoor possesses extensive knowledge of nuclear fuel cycles and materials. His research work has led to the development of several critical nuclear materials which are of great technical importance. Dr. Kapoor is also responsible for numerous research collaborations with various national and international institutions in Nuclear Engineering. For his invaluable contributions in this field, Dr. Kapoor has been conferred with the several prominent Awards and Honours. He has to his credit over 100 Publications in National/International Journals of repute and Symposia.

Prof. YIMING DENG Prof. Yiming Deng is an Associate Professor in the Nondestructive Evaluation Laboratory, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the College of Engineering, at Michigan State University, USA. Prof. Deng is an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Reliability (IEEE TREL), IEEE Transactions on Magnetics (IEEE TMAG), Research in Nondestructive Evaluation (RNDE), Materials Evaluation (ME), Journal of Prognostics and Health Management (JPHM); Prof. Deng is an Subject Editor of Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation (Taylor & Francis) and Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports (Nature). He serves as Panelist and Reviewer for National Science Foundation (NSF), US Department of Energy (DOE), US Department of Transportation (DOT), US Department of Defense (DOD), Canada Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and over 40 scientific journals. He is Senior Member of IEEE, Member of ASEE, Fellow of ASNT(Class of 2021), MSU AGE Fellow. He is a Research Council member of IEEE and ASNT, International Standing Committee member of ENDE, and TPC members for various international conferences in his field. Prof. Yiming Deng's current research focuses on NDE for Advanced Manufacturing, NDE 4.0 and 5.0, AI enabled NDE/SHM systems with Uncertainty Quantification (UQ), Statistical Methods in NDE (Causal Inference, Learning).Prof. Deng's research has been supported by DOE, DoD, NSF, DOT, NIH, AAR, EPRI, GTI, ASNT, etc.
Dr. ANIL KUMAR DAS Dr. Anil Kumar Das, is currently General Manager in NETRA, which is the R&D wing of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and is heading the area of Scientific Services offered by NETRA in the field of NDT, Metallurgy & Failure Analysis, Creep & Fatigue, Corrosion, Water Chemistry, Resin, Coal Combustion, Ash Management, Lub & Transformer Oil Analysis etc. He obtained his B.Tech and M.Tech degrees from IIT Kanpur. He is ASNT Level-3 in Ultrasonic, Magnetic, Eddy current and Penetrant techniques. He has over 31 years of experience in the power sector, with last 28 years in the field of NDT, RLA and Health Assessment of Power Plant Components. He has played significant role in introducing many advanced NDT methods in NTPC like, Frequency scanning eddy current testing for in-situ assessment of coating on gas turbine blades, Application of MCF for assessment of properness of PWHT of T91 welds, Application of MCF for detection and quantification of exfoliation build-up on austenitic stainless steel boiler tube bends, Electromagnetic techniques for assessment of material degradation and detection of internal pits in austenitic stainless steel tubes, In-situ inspection of root region of turbine blades by Ultrasonic phased array, Weld inspection of boiler tubes through Phased Array, Non-destructive estimation of mechanical properties of pipelines & headers, In-situ hydrogen damage detection in boiler waterwall tubes. He has been actively involved in R&D projects for development of Advanced Ultra Supercritical Technology in India. He is life Member of ISNT and member of ASNT and members of NCB & PFMB of ISNT. He was awarded National NDT Award in 2011 by Indian Society for Non-destructive Testing for outstanding contribution for industrial application of NDT. He is associated with publishing of 2 nos. of books through Springer, filing of 5 numbers of patents and 6 numbers of copyrights.
Mr. MAHESH B JADHAV Mr. Mahesh B. Jadhav joined Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL) in 1991 after completing the One year orientation course at BARC, Mumbai from the 34th batch. Currently he is an Associate Director, Directorate of Quality Assurance , NPCIL, Mumbai. He is Working in NPCIL in the field of Eddy current testing of Steam Generator and Heavy Water Heat Exchangers tubes and Ultrasonic testing on Welds as a part of In Service Inspection and also participating in coolant Channel Inspections.
Prof. KAVITHA ARUNACHALAM Prof. Kavitha Arunachalam received her Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, India and Doctoral degree from NonDestructive Evaluation Laboratory, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Michigan State University, East Lansing, USA. She did post-doctoral research in Hyperthermia Physics at the Department of Radiation Oncology, Duke University Medical Center, USA, where she developed RF and microwave devices and sensors for cancer diagnosis and therapy. She is currently professor in the Department of Engineering Design, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. Her research interests are electromagnetic (EM) waves and its applications in the area of material measurements, NDT, antennas, eddy current sensors and microwave medical devices for detection and treatment of cancer.
Mr. ARBIND KUMAR Mr. Arbind Kumar obtained B.Sc (Engg.) - Metallurgy from BIT Sindri and M.Tech from IIT Kanpur (Metallurgy). Subsequently he joined Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and completed the one year orientation Course (39th Batch) of the BARC Training School. Presently he is a Scientific Officer (H) at QAD, BARC, Mumbai. He is ISNT Level III certified in Eddy Current Testing. Mr. Arbind Kumar is involved in the Development and Application of NDE Techniques for Quality Control of Nuclear Fuels, In-Service Inspection of BWR Reactor Pressure Vessel and Heat Exchanger Tubes, Quality Assurance of Structural Components for Nuclear projects, Design and Development of eddy current coils, standardization of eddy current test procedure for testing of nuclear components and Training and Certification of NDE Personnel. He has over 62 technical publications. Mr. Arbind Kumar received NDT Achievement Award in 2008 for R&D Activities from ISNT Mumbai Chapter, National NDT Award in 2012 for R&D Activities from ISNT, Scientific & Technical Excellence Award in 2009 conferred by DAE and Nine Group Achievement Awards conferred by DAE.
APARNA SHEILA-VADDE Aparna Sheila-Vadde has been with the NDE Lab in GE Research since 2005. She has worked on design, simulation, testing and analysis of electromagnetic sensors for various inspection and monitoring applications. Prior to GE, Aparna worked at Western Digital Corp and Read-Rite, in Fremont, CA, for 3.5 years on GMR sensor design for hard-drives. Aparna has a B.Tech from Kerala University, MS from IISc and Ph.D from Carnegie Mellon University, all in ECE. Test
